David Mann, Artistic Director

David Mann is delighted to begin his fifth season as the artistic director of Voce Chamber Singers. Under David’s leadership, Voce has expanded their programming for composers that are traditionally underrepresented in the world of classical music. He has also facilitated commissions by Karen Thomas, Dr. Roland Carter, and mentored young students through Voce’s first ever Youth Choral Festival in 2023. In his first season of in-person, live recordings with Voce Chamber Singers, the ensemble was recognized as a finalist for the 2023 American Prize in Choral Performance. Most recently, Voce was nominated for “Best Chamber Choir"“ for the 2024 Greater Washington Area Choral Excellence Awards.

David is currently pursuing a DMA in choral conducting at the University of Maryland under the tutelage of Dr. Jason Max Ferdinand. David led high school choral ensembles for seven years in Prince William County, Virginia and continues to serve as an adjudicator, clinician, and presenter for K-12 choral programs in Maryland, DC, and Virginia. As a vocalist, he has performed with the Oregon Bach Festival, Chantry, and the National Cathedral, and Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington DC. In 2018, he was named the winner of the American Prize in Choral Conducting - Collegiate Division for his recording with the Michigan State University Chamber Choir.

He currently serves as the Director of Music at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington and resides in McLean, Virginia with his wife Anna and their daughter Alice.
