David Mann, Artistic Director

David Mann is delighted to begin his fourth season as the artistic director of Voce Chamber Singers. Under David’s leadership, Voce has expanded their programming for composers that are traditionally underrepresented in the world of classical music. He has also facilitated commissions by Karen Thomas, Roland Carter, and mentored young students through Voce’s first ever Youth Choral Festival in 2023.

David’s debut in-person season recordings as Artistic Director were recently named as a finalist for the 2023 American Prize in Choral Performance - Community Division. His 2022 concert, Lift Every Voice was nominated for the 2023 Greater Washington DC Area Choral Excellence Awards for “Best DEI Programming.”

David is currently pursuing a doctorate in choral conducting at the University of Maryland, College Park under the tutelage of Dr. Jason Max Ferdinand. At UMD, he serves as the assistant conductor of the University Chorale and teaches undergraduate conducting.

David was an educator for 7 years in Prince William County, Virginia and regularly serves as a guest presenter and clinician on repertoire and pedagogy for developing singers. He earned his master’s degree in choral conducting from Michigan State University where he also won the 2018 American Prize in Choral Conducting - Collegiate Division.
